  • Pastors and their Wives

After numerous trips to Uganda and Kenya, we felt that the Lord was calling us to reach out to the struggling Pastors and their wives in Africa.

We knew that our influence would be small but that we could encourage Pastors and their wives and help them to grow their influence on Churches, Villages, Tribes, and Districts.

OUR MISSION

Educating

Uganda was a British colony and only those privileged enough to be educated went to school. Since this time, the majority of educational instruction has been in English. Most schools do not teach in English until the 4th or 5th grade. Many Ugandans are uneducated because not all Africans make it past the 1st or 2nd grade. HHIM has two teachers that teach basic and advanced English to our adult Pastors for free. (Proverbs 9:9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning). We also have two computer teachers that teach computer literacy. We also have a small library where they can come to read, study, and socialize.

Encouraging

We encourage the Pastors and wives by bringing gifts like pocket calendars, bibles, baby blankets, food, cooking utensils, seeds, and many other things to help meet their basic needs. We bring short term mission teams to assist us in teaching about Bible, marriage, and family as well as other important life issues. We have had many generous donors giving financial contributions to enable us to supply bikes, cows, goats, chickens, and many other things to help them with their basic needs. (James 2:16 If one of you says to them, "Go in peace; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?).

Empowering

Through Educating and Encouraging these Pastors the natural result has been to empower them to help their families and to more effectively preach the word, and to hopefully share their hope and their testimony (I Peter 3:15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,) with family, neighbors and villages, and to the ends of the earth! English lessons have proved to be a huge success, it has enabled many Pastors to preach in Kenya and Congo where English is the only common language as well as some getting jobs to help their families.

We believe it's the pebble affect; they throw the testimony of their lives (good marriage, strong and steady faith and family structure) into the pond and watch it spread.

HHIM is breaking the mold of past missionary ventures where the Americans come to teach and preach and go home with little aid given to those that they minister to.
